Blackpool Ch Show - Leonberger - Judge: Mrs S Sevastopulo

Thank you to all the exhibitors who made the trek to Blackpool. There were some superb specimens of the Breed but others were just appalling. Lack of bone, substance and angulation – especially in the rear - were major problems. If there is no definition between stifle and hock this can lead to major health issues and is something breeders must try to improve on in especially in the light of the KC’s ‘fit for life & function’ directive. Only a couple had missing teeth, temperaments were all excellent.

Class 1864 VD/B (4 Entries) Abs: 1
1st: 8651 SANDALLS Mrs S A Saljay Don't Look Back. Excellent head shape, a true parallelepiped – something difficult to find in many of the young stock – dark eye and excellent mask. Correct angulation and 9:10 body ratios. His muscle tone and overall condition were excellent and he out moved most of the other males, at 8 years old a truly superb specimen of the Breed. Pleased to award him the CC which I believe makes him a Champion, congratulations.
2nd: 8623 ELLIOT Mr N & Mrs S Jantonely Addicted To Love. Another one who looks super for his age, has all the essentials but lacked the muscle tone, topline and drive of the winner.
3rd: 8665 WILLIAMS Mr J S & Mrs E A Vannroy Gentle Touch

Class 1866 PD (3 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: 8614 BELL Mrs A Clunkamoor Last Word – Just Gorgeous. Terrific bone, substance and coat. Excellent angulation giving him a super forechest and driving action on the move. Has a true shaped head, super mask, eye could be darker and tighter for perfection. Good topline and underline, just needs time to firm up all over but see him as a CH of the future. Best Puppy.
2nd: 8631 HOLLIDAY Mr & Mrs N Lionslord Babylon Child. Excels in head, bone and coat. Would like more rear angulation but he is in a growth spurt so is overbuilt at the moment and hopefully he will settle behind as his front grows. Moved well.
3rd: 8636 JUMP Ms S Aceca Solid Gold Easy Action. Pleasing youngster who has all the essentials, unlucky to met the first two, just moves a bit close behind.

Class 1867 JD (6 Entries) Abs: 3
1st: 8614 BELL Mrs A Clunkamoor Last Word
2nd: 8653 SEDGEWICK Mr & Mrs M Heliodor Zeffirelli. Good overall shape, nice angulation. Has a light eye and will carry his tail high on the move. Needs to grow on and mature as he is finely built for a male.
3rd: 8617 BURRELL Mrs A Seaxa Golden Fleece

Class 1868 PGD (8 Entries) Abs: 2
1st: 8618 BURRELL Mrs A Rossnick Highflyer. Easy winner here. Excellent head, eye and mask. Very good for bone, substance and coat. Moved well. The rest of the class were disappointing and I withheld the VHC as I would not place the dogs with bad mouth or crippled hocks. The lack of angulation, bone and substance in the other placed dogs was worrying but they did conform in the main to the standard so were placed.
2nd: 8653 SEDGEWICK Mr & Mrs M Heliodor Zeffirelli
3rd: 8612 BANCROFT Ms L E Dajean Jack Daniels With Beenpea

Class 1869 LD (5 Entries) Abs: 1
1st: 8632 HOLLIDAY Mr & Mrs N Tarkaleoes Black Pearl For Lionslord NAF. Superb young male. Excellent bone, make and shape, angulation and body ratios. Loved his head, super planes and kind expression. Correct neck, lay of shoulders, topline and underline. He moved like a dream once he got going, needs a huge ring to do him justice. Out of coat but that just accentuated his conformation. Res CC.
2nd: 8652 SANDALLS Mrs S A Saljay Poker Playing Picalo. 2nd and 3rd were pleasing males. Well off for bone and substance and in good coat. 2nd has weak pasterns and 3rd roached on the move.
3rd: 8613 BELL Mrs A Graceanna Chelan Sh.CM

Class 1870 OD (6 Entries) Abs: 3
1st: 8625 FRANCES, Ms C & BROWN Mr S Clunkamoor Diamond Geezer. Just love this big male, fully mature now and in super coat. Great head, eye a little light and round, superb mask. So well made with correct angulation front and rear. Well off for bone and substance. Great topline, underline and body ratios. He moved so well in this class I though he would be my CC winner, but in the challenge he favoured a hind leg and so lost out, a real shame.

2nd: 8648 ROSE Mrs B Vannroy King Kelly Of Bedeburn Sh.CM. A strong, well made dog who was looking really well today. Excellent angulation front and rear, although slightly cow hocked when stood. Moved really well. 3rd was completely out of coat and standing with a steep rear today, but otherwise a lovely boy with many excellent breed points.
3rd: 8630 HAYDEN, Mr P & DUNN Miss K Sylbert Emperor Ridge At Sancholees

Class 1872 PB (3 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: 8633 HOLLIDAY Mr & Mrs N Lionslord Byzantia. Gorgeous puppy, feminine head, great mask and eye. Has excellent bone and substance and lovely coat. Excellent angulation front and rear, a little bum high. Excellent on the move. Pressed hard for BP but the male was just more finished on the day.
2nd: 8645 PARKER Miss K Aceca's Crystal Lake. Liked her a lot, feminine, pretty head with good mask and eye. Excellent bone, substance and coat. Good rear angulation but is steep in upper arm so loses forechest definition and this makes her look long in body. Moved well.
3rd: 8639 KINSEY, Mr R & BODLE Mrs B Vannroy My Way At Kitarn. Very promising, has it all there but refused to move well and show herself to full advantage.

Class 1873 JB (5 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: 8650 RUSHBY Miss K Jocolda Swarovski To Leosrus. Gorgeous, feminine bitch. Excelled in angulation, bone, coat and overall make and shape. Would prefer a more defined mask and a little more breadth to nose. Very together on the move for age, super topline and underline, should have a promising future.
2nd: 8640 MACDOUGALL Miss E Prideofelsa Isle Of Gigha. Fabulous colouring and pigment on this bitch. Well off for bone, substance and size. Super mask, head and eye, correct angulation and body ratios. Just needs to mature and get a new coat – shame she curls her tail a little on the move.
3rd: 8635 JONES, Mrs J & PAGE Mrs D Bavaruki High Jinks. Super young female, has it all there but is overbuilt at the moment, if she settles in topline will trouble the best.

Class 1874 PGB (9 Entries) Abs: 3
1st: 8626 FRANCES, Ms C & BROWN Mr S Clunkamoor In The Pink. Excellent head, mask and eye – one of the best of the day. Super angulation front and rear, correct body ratios and overall make and shape. In full coat. Moved soundly but lacked sparkle.
2nd: 8621 DAWE Miss J Sylbert Mount Victoria At Kensalroag. My notes say gorgeous but naked!! Has the best of heads for shape and mask. A bit upright in shoulders which tends to make her front wide. Super behind and moved really well.
3rd: 8640 MACDOUGALL Miss E Prideofelsa Isle Of Gigha

Class 1875 LB (8 Entries) Abs: 2
1st: 8641 MCLINTOCK Mrs G & Mr D Kwenobe Balfen Damalie At Clydebrae. This was her day. Had everything I was looking for. Type, bone, mask, and movement. Best of masks and eye, all female head and soft expression. Excellent body ratios, topline, underline and coat. Correct construction, which showed in her effortless movement. Handled to perfection to CC & BOB – hear she was shorlisted in the group – congratulations.
2nd: 8622 DAWE Miss J Tarkaleoes Atlantic Maid At Kensalroag. Loved her head and expression and overall make and shape. Correct angulation front and rear and in good coat and condition. Very much my type of Leo, lost out to winner on less positive rear movement but has good reach, drive and side gait which won her Res CC.
3rd: 8655 SIMPSON Mrs L Debbollinby Blaze Of Glory

Class 1876 OB (5 Entries) Abs: 1

Three worthy Champions, loved each of them for different reasons. Winner excels in head type, overall construction and substance and coat on the day. Second has great bone and overall style, would prefer a kinder expression and more forearm angulation for perfection. Third excels in overall breed type but needs better lip pigmentation. They all moved well but lacked the sparkle of my CC winner today.
1st: 8615 BRAILSFORD Miss S Ch Stormchaser Anoushka JW
2nd: 8634 HOLLIDAY Mr & Mrs N Ch Ir Ch Debbollinby Vogue For Lionslord
3rd: 8642 MCLINTOCK Mrs G & Mr D Ch Mandazz Angelic Whisper To Clydebrae Sh.CM
